Red Accordion Studios will present ACTING 101 with David Michael Felty this fall at the Perfect 5th Music & Arts Center in Mechanicsburg, PA.

ACTING 101: Building Skills for the Stage & Audition Room

Ages 13 and up | 6-Week Class (October 29-December 10) | 7:00–8:30 PM | $220

This six-week series is designed to give young actors a strong foundation in the essential skills they need to succeed onstage and in the audition room. David offers a hands-on class environment where students will develop powerful acting techniques, build confidence, and learn how to make their performances stand out.

Classes will meet once a week from 7:00–8:30 PM for six weeks.

Acting 101 covers material typically introduced in a college freshman-level acting course, including:

  • Beats & Tactics
  • Essential Action
  • Improvisation
  • Monologue Work
  • Truthfulness in Acting
  • An Introduction to Stanislavski
  • Audition Techniques
  • And more!

Students will learn how to make specific, meaningful choices, connect authentically to text, and bring greater depth and intention to their performances. These are practical tools they can use in auditions, rehearsals, performances, and future acting training.

Learn from a Broadway & National Tour Veteran

David brings years of professional experience to the classroom. A Broadway and national touring veteran, he toured extensively with the musical Les Misérables, performing the role of Jean Valjean hundreds of times. His screen credits include appearances on Star Search and in Sight & Sound’s The Great Awakening.

In addition to his professional performing career, David has extensive directing experience and has served as the Head of Theatre at the college level, giving him a unique perspective on both the professional demands of the industry and the foundational training young actors need to grow.

This is an opportunity for young performers to learn from someone who has experienced theatre from multiple perspectives—as a professional actor, director, educator, and theatre leader.

Individual lessons are also available with David for monologue preparation, song text/acting work, and upcoming auditions.
